He also snapped “don’t blame the edit” after Ekin-Su was booed and insisted she was poorly edited by the show.
Layton was invited on Celebrity Big Brother Late and Live as a panellist and sat metres away from Ekin when he made the comments.
Former Big Brother’s Bit On The Side host Rylan Clark admitted it was “uncomfortable to watch” as he interviewed Ekin on the latest episode of his How To Be In The Spotlight podcast.
Rylan said: “I didn’t watch (the series) but I got a message from someone who I used to work with on the show that night, and they said ‘you need to see what’s happening’.
“I tuned in and watched part of your interview.
“I have to say, as a viewer, it was so uncomfortable to watch. And for someone who is locked up for three four weeks to come out into that moment, did you feel like you were prepared for it?”
Ekin replied: “When I look at myself, I think why didn’t I say something? Why didn’t I stand up for myself?
“Being sat on that chair when Layton was making comments was so …
“I don’t get it. I liked Layton, I thought he was great on Strictly.
“All my opinions on him changed after that, and I thought, ‘what a horrible … weren’t you bullied on Strictly as well?’
“What a nasty thing to do to someone.”
Ekin-Su carried on: “People take their own lives from being trolled …
“It felt like everyone, it went back to my childhood, every bully was in that audience.
“Cheering it on because I had left, it felt like I failed. I may be worth the bullying.
“That’s what I felt like … I was shaking inside.”
The star also recalled the moment she walked out of the house and realised she was entering a lion’s den.
She said: “I remember seeing my publicist at the time and my mum looking so worried, like really concerned and I was confused.
“Then the first thing I get told in my ear, is that ‘you’re cancelled’ by my mum. ‘They edited you bad’.
“So naturally when I hear that, I’m thinking …. in my mind I thought I did nothing wrong.”
Ekin-Su added: “Obviously I have nothing bad to say about (CBB presenters) AJ and Will. I really like her and Will as well. I had this positivity with them.
“But it’s a shame I don’t believe it was reflected back.”
Ekin addressed some of the contentious moments in the house that saw her clash with her co-stars.
She went on: “When Zizi made the comment ‘yeah but Love Island is a holiday’ I got defensive and said, ‘yeah but it’s not’. The old me would have been, yeah that’s your opinion lets move on. But I wasn’t I was so defensive.
“There was also a comment ‘why is Ekin up Sharon’s backside’. I was like, that is nothing to do with status.”
The Turkish actress continued: “I feel close to my elders, because of my culture I’ve always respected elderly people. It was like a warm spot, it was because I felt safe and protected and didn’t feel judged.”
Ekin-Su whipped up controversy in the house after she appeared annoyed by Marisha Wallace nominating her.
